California has a separate filing requirement to have your Nonprofit tax status recognized.  If you are brick and mortar in the State of California the filing requirements have changed effective January 1, 2016.  Those requirements are lengthy and predicated on numerous defining factors.  Brick and mortar is defined as being a physical structure that is opened to the public, operating for the stated purpose of the Nonprofit Charter.
